“Parasite” won Best Picture at the Oscars 2020 with South Korean director Bong Joon Ho also taking home the Best Director award.
The historic 92nd Academy Awards moment took place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday.

“Parasite” is the first non-English film to win the Best Picture award at the Oscars, beating other contenders including “1917,” “The Irishman,” “Joker,” and “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.”

“We never imagined this to ever happen. We are so happy,” film producer Kwak Sin-ae said in her acceptance speech. “I feel like a very opportune moment in history is happening right now.”
“I express my deepest gratitude and respect for all the members of the academy for making this decision.”
In addition, “Parasite” director Bong Joon Ho also took home the Best Director award, according to The Guardian.

During his speech, the 50-year-old director paid tribute to some of the veterans in the film industry, including Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino, who were also both nominated in the category.

“Parasite” won four of the six nominations at the Academy Awards, including Best International Feature Film, Best Original Screenplay, Best Director and Best Picture.
