Hybe Corporation has announced its first K-pop girl group, Le Sserafim.
In 2012, as Big Hit Entertainment, the label debuted girl group quartet Glam in partnership with Source Music. Hybe, which manages groups such as BTS and Nu’Est, released two videos on April 8 and April 10 titled “Casting Call” and “Fearless Show” on its official YouTube channel to introduce all six members.
Le Sserafim’s name is derived as an anagram for “I am fearless” and as a play on the word “Seraphim,” referring to an angel with six wings to represent the six members.
The six members of the girl K-pop group include Kim Chaewon, 21, and Sakura, 24, (former members of the disbanded group Iz*one) as well as newcomers Huh Yunjin, 20, Kazuha, 18, Kim Garam, 16, and Hong Eunchae, 15. Chaewon will take on the role of the group’s leader.

Garam was recently swept up in several controversies after online followers claimed that she had been a school bully, made inappropriate comments about V of BTS and taken a photo in front of a chalkboard with pornographic drawings.
Hybe immediately responded to the claims on April 4, less than a day after they circulated, with a statement that described the rumors as “proven to be false” and a “defamation of character against Kim Garam who is a child.”
The group is set to debut sometime in May of this year.
