Chloe Bennet Destroys Hater Who Condemned Her For Changing Her Chinese Last Name

Earlier this week, actor Ed Skrein announced his resignation from his role in “Hellboy” to fight against Hollywood whitewashing.

His move was met with many praises from the Asian American community, among them was fellow actor Chloe Bennet, who plays Daisy Johnson in Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

However, in the comment sections, Bennet was criticized for being a “hypocrite” for changing her last name from “Wang” to “Bennet.”

Bennet didn’t appreciate this individual judging her without context and posted an epic clap back (the individual deleted his/her comment and Instagram shortly after Bennet’s reply).

In 2014, Bennet revealed that she had changed her last name because she was having a hard time getting work in Hollywood. She decided to change her last name, to “Bennet,” her father’s first name.

“Oh, the first audition I went on after I changed my name, I got booked,” Bennet shared to The Daily Beast last year. “So that’s a pretty clear little snippet of how Hollywood works.”

“I want to be clear because some of my Asian-American fans seem to think I did that [changed last names] because I didn’t want to known as Chinese, but it’s so the opposite,” she added. “I just wanted to be known as me and let my personality define who I was, rather than my ethnicity.”
