Videos Prove Andrew Yang’s Mic Was Cutoff During Democratic Presidential Debate

Videos showing what appear to be 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang getting his mic cut off during the debate on June 27 have surfaced online.

In the clip above, YouTube user alacritythief focuses on Yang raising his hand and speaking in front of the microphone, but viewers could not hear a thing he was saying.

In another clip below, Joe Biden can be seen turning his head to face Yang as he tried to speak out during the debate.

It appears that Biden heard Yang speak and turned his attention to him before turning the other way to face Kirsten Gillibrand, whose audio was allowed through.

A day after the debate, Yang immediately spoke to his supporters and said: “There were also a few times, FYI, where I just started talking, being like, ‘Hey, I’d like to add something there,’ and my mic was not on. It’s not like if you start talking it all of a sudden takes over the convo. It’s like I was talking and nothing was happening.”

But NBC later pushed back and stated“At no point during the debate was any candidate’s microphone turned off or muted.”

After the incident, the hashtag #LetYangSpeak became widely used on Twitter in support of Yang.
